No VRam

Question: Help! I get one of the following messages while trying tho run one or more of the Silent Hill games on pc! This game requires a video card with a minimum of 32MB VRAM and programmable Vertex/Pixel Shader support. The application will now close. or

No VRam

The SH4Check tells me that my vid card has 0 vram and 0 vertex/pixel shader...? Now how could that be true?

Answer:

1. The game is saying the video card or drivers aren't sufficient to run the game! You need to update them.

2. Look for the particular driver that supports your video card. If you can't try reinstalling it from your System Restore CD ( that came with the computer) then uninstall Silent Hill and reinstall respectively.

3. Also might consider running the game through 3D Analyze:

3D Analyze Home Page

Note: If you use 3D Analyze with non compatible video card you maybe experience errors with the graphics! The blood colour will also be drawn wrong! I could not achieve red and all the other options were replaced with incorrect colours from my (ATI Radeon IGP345M [Pixel Shader 1.0) video card. ATI Radeon IGP345M [Pixel Shader 1.0 - insufficient for Silent Hill 3].

Thank you to Skiro from SilentHillForums.co.uk for letting me use those pictures and info!

Example 1 [Look at the right-hand side, the lightbulbs are black]:

Robbie the rabbit

Example 2 [Flashlight throws light on nurse, but not on surrounding area]:

Example 3 [Compare this image with the other card's 'Example 2' to see the difference in lighting]:

SH3 Mother and child

ATI Radeon Pro 9700 or GeForce FX 5600XT [Better choice for playing SH3]:

Example 1 [Flashlight throws light on surrounding area - not just the nurse]:

Example 2 [Light is thrown correctly]:

Example 3 [Another example of correct lighting! (SPOILER, I think)]:

Game keeps freezing!

Question: Help! My game keeps freezing at a certain point in the game(s) and I don't know what to do. I have done the Ctrl + Alt + Del back to Windows but it says the games status is: Running instead of Not Responding. What should I do? Answer: Take the game back to the place you bought it from and ask if you have another game to replace the faulty game you purchased earlier! Question: Help! My game works perfectly however, when I go to load a previous save game of mine, the save game won't load and the game shuts down! What should I do? Answer: Well seeing as it's not your Silent Hill game that is the problem it means your save game file is corrupt. You can download some of my save game files here and use them when you need to save! Also you can Email Me and send me your save game files and I would be happy to see why they aren't working for you! I also came across a strange bug in the game: If you load one of my save game first then re-load yours it (your save game) works!

SH1 with epsxe....video issues

Question: Everything seems ok except the hi-res videos never has sound/music and the low-res, in-game dialogue sequences have no spoken sound, but there are bg sounds. There is also some frame stuttering when the vid scenes change but that doesn't bother me too much. I've used a few plugins at various settings but the problem won't get better. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Answer: Download another plugin (example: spuEternal.dll) for the video. If you are having problems with audio and video being played through the emulator download another plugins from:
