History of the Corvettes

The Corvette's were comissioned during World War II on the orders of the Admirality. However, they were manned by personel from the Royal Australian Navy.

During the war the corvettes were deployed in active duty as escorts both in Australia and overseas.

60 Corvettes were built for primary use as minesweepers.
